Rather than kill another thread just to ask a question, I'll steal this one. I have an ex-army (UK, in case it makes a difference) sleeping bag my mate sold me, about twenty years old but still in almost perfect condition. He used to (with a bivy) sleep behind walls in the rain and snow just fine at the height of winter in it.
The issues I have with the fucking thing are various. First, its way too fucking hot to actually sleep in. But mostly it's damn uncomfortable with the interior lining and mesh 'pockets' designed to hold stuff rub if you try and get comfy. Do you guys wrap anything around yourselves in your 'bags? The last thing I need is another layer of warmth in that thing.
