>>192608Yeah. I've lived in Alaska and the Canadian north.
Unfortunately job and career shit currently has me trapped in a large city. But I've definitely been way the fuck out there a lot of time, most often with my work as a biologist and film maker.
It's a truly wonderful feeling being immersed in what feels like wild nature.
I hope that we can manage to preserve large areas of "wilderness" for the sake of ecosystems and for what these places offer our souls that more "disturbed" areas cannot.
Now, when I can't get way the fuck out there, I will settle for less, and there is huge value in this too. My only real problem with some of the things on this board is how gear heavy and obsessed people often seem to be. Sometimes you've got to just forget about the latest gear and get out there, keep it simple, enjoy the small things.
John Muir used to disappear into wilderness with barely anything on his back and a bit of bread in his pocket. If you ever read his writing (and you should), you'll realize that he gained a lot from his simple time /out/.
