If I dig down about 2m the sand is 'pure' enough for glass blowing and construction purposes. A few kilometers from my residence, the banks of the river are dotted with 'mining' sites for gravel and sand. Soil really doesn't get much more 'sandy' than that, or you wouldn't call it soil anymore. I would be surprised if you have a worse location to start on than I did, and again; it all worked out for me.
