I've been looking at vermont land and notice some very decent plots 10+ acres surrounded by woods, water sources, for only 20k.
It seems like it would be very easy to build a startup one room shack, maybe 15'x15', wood stove, bed and just live off the land. The problem obviously lies in sustaining.
So does anyone have any experience living like this even temporarily? What can you grow for food, how do you make money to balance property tax and the like, the technical stuff.
How much money do you think it would take saved up in order to live a cheap life in a shack in the woods for the rest of your life?
