The first thing you need is to save up, get a ticket, get a bag and shoes that will not quit.
The next thing you need is a portable device that lets you exploit maps, portable online recourses and a way to charge it. This isn't wilderness but it will help with transport, getting free stuff from websites like gumtree, and giving you a communications option that will let you use libraries.
It's hard to explain how bad the UK actually is compared to most nations. It's remarkable to me that it's even considered a free country. One thing about there is that tresspass as a law isn't actually applicable if you do no damage. I would suggest watching Geowizard to hype yourself up with a fellow national and try to build skills so you can make better chocies than what some random shit like me online says.
