I suggest that the reason people don't like MGTOW dudes is because those dudes, independent of their ideology, are not very likable. The sort of teflonic identity maneuvering employed by men's rights activist allows them to put that disgust off (at least in their own minds) on an ideology. That this ideology is juvenile is perhaps partly the point; if it were a sound position to inhabit it would be less open to derision, and so attention would fall once again the individual.
tl;dr—MGTOW is the rat king
