What are some of your guy's stealth camping tricks? Thought about making a thread to ask this, but this sort of works. I'm a cop in Northern Illinois and I hate this state and paying for camping. I find the idea of giving/taking money to/for this state repulsive in the first place and whenever I find people camping (dispersed) or drinking a little in what little woods there are around here I let them go (assuming they aren't wasted and armed or something). I get fishing and hunting licenses, but nothing annoys me more than some "steward" telling people they have to camp at their designated campgrounds with electricity and wifi. I'm ditching this godforsaken state in 2 or so years almost specifically because of the lack of camping and hunting opportunities (and also the raging corruption and high taxes).
Don't post any info about yourself, but I'm really curious about tactics for stealth camping and remaining hidden. Have you ever run into other cops? Did they give you a hard time?
When I was a soldier, we used goretex bivy bags like pic-related and some camo netting in a ranger grave (foxhole). I've used the bivy and a mosquito net a few times pretty effectively.
