>>2438841About an acre. There's still duckweed, it just stays around the edges in far far smaller quantities. Several willow trees in the edge of the water, a few brush piles I added for cover.
I've greatly thinned out the stubborn white crappie and warmouth population. There's around 6 bass in the whole pond just to take advantage of the massive amount of bait fish. Eventually I'll create a small, managed bass population but my main concern is the pickerel. I've never seen a pond with more minnows and fry in it than this pond now so the pickerel must have ample food. All tolled their should currently be between 35-45 adult redfin pickerel in the pond, but who knows how many are still alive. Obviously since this is the first documented stocking of a pond with this species there is no info on how many *should* be in a pond this size, so I'm kinda playing it by ear. I know I have found pools of water that are about the size of 2 hot tubs that had a dozen or 2 pickerel in them, but that likely isn't ideal conditions for them.
I'm glad you are enjoying these updates, that makes me very happy. I still need to write up a full treatise on these beautiful and terribly understudied animals.
