I am now living in Vancouver BC with hardly any good gear and no idea where to go. I love fishing (can't fly fish yet but its on my Summer's "Shit to get done list"), working on wood whittling, I love hiking, and I love camping.
My gear includes: An air mat, a sleeping bag, a backpack (meant for backpacking though I can't seem to fit everything in either due my stuff being to big or not knowing proper packing techniques), a fishing pole, tackle box with most of the essentials for lake or river fishing, a hatchet, a flash light, camelback, emergency blanket, compass, and a decent pair of hiking shoes.
I feel like I'm missing something, or I'm carrying too much, everyone has knife threads but I haven't found myself in a situation where I'd prefer a knife to a hatchet. I was also looking into a travel hammock as it seems the preferable sleeping method while camping.
So any tips would be appreciated, some gear recommendations for simple outdoor activities like camping, hiking, or fishing would be appreciated. Also some recommendations of must see places to camp and hike near Vancouver would also be great.
