The pic related is what I plan to do, attach a custom hipbelt made of the belt you see laying on the ground. Stitch it on the shouldertrap flaps, and add some padding to it, the buckle seems excelent for quick unfasting.
Also making some waterbottle holders to place 1,5 Liter bottles on both sides.
I don't need a water purifier, in the Netherlands and Germany you will never ever be more than a day walk away from habitation. My plan was to refill 3 liters evertime I can. That should be enough for a day, and even possibly to stretch to the day after.
