Hey /out/, I'm going up to a cottage with a few friends next week, we're planning on fishing most of the time we're there.
I've only been fishing for about a year with a pretty basic bob fishing rod, but I have picked up a few tips from a few friendly veterans that gave me a few tips. I'm wondering if you guys could verify these tips for me, and maybe share some more advice as well.
I was told that the larger fish like trout and pike are much more cautious and will notice any thick line from a mile away. Since I was using the cruddy default line that came with my rod, it was pretty thick. One guy next to me was pulling in trout every other minute, he told me he used a 6-10 lbs line at most, and also spaces out small weights on his line a little something like this. He also used smaller variants of bait like maggots, or things like silkworms from reptile stores.
