Anyone want to give tips to an amateur fisher? I find it real difficult to catch fish off the pier. There are puffer fish, saltwater bass or trout, and baitfish. I have trouble knowing when to pull the rod and they always steal the bait. The only way I can catch them is if I have the bait literally resting at the top of the water and when I see them bite, I obviously know when to pull up.
