Between there and Tucson is a lot of amazing places. You could also go over to Flagstaff and down to Phoenix but be warned Flagstaff is 7k elevation so it's cold as fuck. If you're trying to avoid the cold/elevation, go south to Las Cruces and then west into Arizona from there.
I'll be in Arizona for a few months, already been here a little over a month. Just got a job in Quartzite so I'll be here for another month at least. There's a gem show and some other things going on, you should come here to be honest. There's thousands of snowbirds and travelers and all sorts of transient folk in Quartzite. The rubber tramp rendezvous is out here, and just about anyone who deals with gems and rocks is probably out here so if that's your thing the town is great.
It's my fourth year coming to the Desert for winter, it's nice.
