I recently (two months ago) got a dr 650 as my first bike, with the intention to commute / do some touring / ride offroad when possible. It's been great for these purposes: it handles gravel and dirt fine, and I can ride fully loaded on the interstates (in the US) without any problems. This bike regularly goes for pretty cheap around where I am, too: it was a good deal.
