im taking one of my buddies for an overnight stay to mt st gorgonio. the round trip to the summit is only 19 miles so im not really worried about him. i am however worried about his dog. he really wants to bring his dog, and im not opposed to this, but his dog is fairly young, only a couple months. my questions:
how do you camp overnight with a dog? do you just tie her to a tree at night, sleep inside the tent?
do you need to bring additional dog specific food?
what is the likelihood of the dog doing the 19 miles or 14 with no problems? i dont the poor thing to get joint pain or damage or something
general hiking/backpacking with dog on-the-trail etiquette?
