Being it's a surf rod and because the knot is so far back I would tie a very simple and effective double uni knot. I have never had that knot break. Just make sure you wrap the line 6-9 times, so it can grip
Or if you want, you can buy a 500yd spool of kastking braid on Amazon for cheap. It may bleed, but never have I came across a bad spot in it.
