>>1872527The Fenestre d'Arpette alt route out of Champex-Lac was the most beautiful part of the trail for me. I only took it to get out of Switzerland faster to get access to my EU mobile data and I'm so happy I did, takes you up to a 2,660m pass next to a glacier, then 1,000m descent to a valley/river and another few hundred back up on the other side to get across the French border to the Chamonix Mont Blanc valley. Best day of the trail.
Second tip would be watch yourself cooking near your tent or keeping smelly food in it once you cross the Swiss border to France. Wolves are repopulating the area now and I encountered them on the two nights I was in the Chamonix valley, one little nigger came right up to my door. They're only small Abruzzo Italian wolves but still sketched me out.
