Actually reposting this, since I mistakenly posted on /diy/ and didn't realize this board had this thread. I always assumed this was about sports-related activities, but I'm glad it's here.
First time posting here, but there is no other board for me to post this relevantly, so here goes.
I just planted some pumpkin seeds earlier this week and actually got my first sprouts today. I realize that it's actually quite late in the season to be planting pumpkins, but I actually have a narrow window where I'm at that, with some luck, will let me harvest them before Thanksgiving, since Halloween is certainly out of the question.
This is actually my first time, and in truth more of an experimental run so I'm kind of playing it by ear here (of course with due research and a little bit of help from my mother, actually). I'm not sure where it came from, but I got a sudden sense of urgency and desire to embark upon this project, even though it was late, and if this batch of pumpkins turns out successful or at least close to it, I'll be ready for next year where I'll do it again but this time on time and correctly.
Just wanted to share this somewhere. I'm interested in hearing any of your own growing/homesteading stories and/or current growing projects.
