Plus,I find it helps if I try to understand WHAT scares me and WHY. We have an instinctual, likely genetically programmed, fear of certain things, because avoidance of those things was necessary for our species survival. We still have those fears today, and project them onto bullshit we make up. examples:
- Werebeasts, monsters, etc. We're afraid of big hairy beasty things, because things like that used to eat us.
-Pale, skinny things with dark eyes: Why is it scary? It's a pretty good indicator of disease, and for thousands of years our only defense against disease was to gtfo.
-Creepy strangers: Contact with strange people in prehistory often meant you got murdered, and your wife and kiddies got stole. (this one is still pretty relevant, actually)
- the darkness, the deep sea, hostile terrain: these are environments where we don't belong.
Also, I always mention this in NOPE threads in /x/... but most fearful situations can be remedied by a liberal dose of pic related.
