I don't do a bunch of /out/ shit, I just come on for specific threads like /grow/ and others.
It is a really area, I can't compare it to anything but you can get some quiet spots. I have done some light hiking and it was a really great experience.
Some things to note though, if you're living in the valley (SLC and surrounding areas, where like 90% of the population lives) you'll have to deal with smog in the winter. The valley just traps in all the smoke and shit from burning wood and cars and makes the air pretty bad. Pic related is an example from Utah.
Other than that and the entire valley being on a fault line that would cause destruction to all of metro Utah, it's a pretty nice place to live. Don't forget the Mormons either.
