I almost got bitten by a Bothrops asper (Fer-de-lance) in Peru last year. Was climbing some steep shitty steps on a rainforest trail and I hear rustling to my side and see one of these fuckers writhing towards me with its mouth wide open. Instinctively swing with the butterfly net I have in my hand and whack it behind me. The worst part was when I did this one of the girls behind me on the steps screamed and I thought I'd hit it into her lmao, I'd rather it of just bitten me than have that on my conscience. Fortunately just whacked it into a tree, really shook me up though, if i hadn't had a net and been super lucky it would've bit me 100%, probably on my chest or arm aswell because of the slope we were on... scary shit
