what's the best way/condition to plant them so I don't fuck them up. tried transplanting one of the plants in pic related but it ended up just shriveling up and looks like the main one is beginning to shrivel up now that I have left the bag off. I don't know why but I just can't seem to get them past this stage

summer in December here in aus but it's been raining slot the past few weeks
am I already too late? and I don't get it, are chilli's something you have to regrow every year or is it just like having a tree?
