I've seen guys shore fishing them but casting sucks so you have to use a shuttle or ride your baits out. they still turn in the rod holder so you'd need to bungie the reel handle to keep orientated. pay close attention to where the spine is on the blank you're wrapping. mark all the positions and use the reference chart.
