So while choosing bear would indeed make me a mans, being that i am not a trapper nor hunter by trade i went with the Tanuki.
It insulates and retains heat / drys quickly when wet. The pelt is large enough for my torso and has enough fluff to be used as a ground pad for weekend trips, but compresses well enough for me to tuck into a 2L dry bag and still have some room left over. Fur wise i hear its easy to take care of, in that regard the only thing that trumps it in ease of care is the icelandic sheepskin / fur. (which they are holding onto for me until i can gather enough coin.)
Next point of business, has anyone used any reputable flint strikers lately?
