Related, love a molle system, but found better quality in civvy. Love my canteen, but nalgene is universal filter standard.

Most places I go are high enough up to simply boil, chill, and drink. But that only applies to swift runners of decent depth.

With shallow creeks or spring lakes, I'd have to make some charcoal, layer with sand and gravel. Pour through until it runs clear. Then boil also.

Don't drink collected lakes, ponds, or swamps. Too much trouble if you have a second choice.
