Even better option... Get a pack goat. They require almost no water. You can pack more than 50 lbs on each one. They eat anything in the environment. They are almost entirely self reliant. A herd of them will scare predators. They are easy to train. They are loyal and loving. If needed, they are a good emergency food source. They have better terrain navigating abilities than dogs. The ONLY thing that dogs have over goats is that dogs will hunt game.
