My fucking god, just found this on Facebook, might as well cancel the trip now, this is absolutely fucked.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tZOtEtxQ-cQTL;DW: River regulation over the last century has dried up areas that build up Tannin and Carbon over decades from dead wood and gumleaves, when the river floods like it does more occurringly now it floods these areas and washes the Tannins and Carbon into the river that turn the water black, starve the water of oxygen and kill off all these increasingly Protected Native species.
Does shit like this happen in the US/Europe? This is honestly breaking my heart.
