Everything above a -1 is technically sub-humid climate (between 50-100% P/PET ratio), meaning during certain parts of the year it actually can have a humid climate. In the southwest this is usually from Jan-March (winter wet season/snow season) and July-September (monsoon). Outside of the cold and wet season, squitos mostly hang out in riparian areas lakes, and moderate elevation forests. Some of the lowland riparian squitos can carry west nile virus.
