It is of course very feasible but not very easy. You'll pass through mountain ranges, high desert, and uncomfortable spots on the highway where tons of cars are zooming right on by you.
If you were to do such a trip I would definitely continue on to Colorado or instead head up north to Montana to Glacier National Park, hike around, enjoy the nature, and then take the scenic train ride back to Portland, OR (yes you are allowed to bring bikes on the train).
If I were you I'd start getting used to riding with panniers filled with your camping stuff and go on a few multi-day long-distance trips and once you get used to that then make the decision to hop on over.
