Evening /out/. I'm a 19 year old dude thats trying to do a camping/homestead lifestyle. (currently living with parents though). I found out my parents have not been keeping the bikes in good condition at the shed. Mountain type bike is rusty, parts are breaking, and brakes are messed up. Really frustrated about it atm. Going to remake/upgrade it into something proper, and keep the bike in my room from now on. I'm going to probably only keep the frames, and store the tires & other things that aren't broken away. I might keep the pedals, gears, and front suspension. Here's the Tl;dr of what I want to do.
Want to convert a (2013?) GT Palermo bike into a proper fatbike. Using only the frame, (with front wheel suspension, and maybe the pedal w/gear attached).
Want a foresty forest Fatbike Build, while using it as an all around bike. Just in case I decide to go for his vanlife lifestyle. But idk where to start. And I'm worried about getting incompatible gear.

Interest on having storage bags on the back/side of the bags. Of course, I have a basic backpack with me, but would be cool to know how to properly set that up.
Will post the bike I had to disassemble, but heres a stock site image of it thats pretty accurate. It's even the same color.
