If nothing else, we have evolved all of our skills and wants for surviving in that environment, and our adaption of those traits to our modern artificial environment consists of neuroses, it's maladapted because we didn't evolve for this. We're constantly tricking the brain into believing that we are pursuing things based on false reasoning. That can't be healthy in the long run. A lie needs many more lies to survive and so on. Also, our bodies and minds are becoming weaker. If we have a complete collapse how many have the skills necessary to survive? Not many, and those who do only have a small fraction of the skills that existed pre-civilisationally.
