Slightly larger dogs like German shepherds or Rottweilers can straight up kill a person, regardless of whether they're a "pussy city boy" or not.
And besides, even if someone is a fighter who works hard or whatever, a kangaroo does not fight the way humans do. A fully grown alpha red kangaroo would incapacitate someone with a single kick, which you cannot avoid by grappling them. I actually know a crazy Maori guy who would hunt kangaroos with a bowie knife and he'd use hunting dogs to distract it while he'd get around it, stand on its tail and slit its throat. Being a fucking Maori he was bigger and stronger than most people but even he wasn't stupid enough to try and fight one alone and without a knife.
