When you're in the southern, north Atlantic or any sea state for that fact in an old dangerous boat which you got 'cheap' you'll find out its not fun.
Sure in an older wooden boat you'll spend less rather than modern carbon but you'll take forever to get there. So you'll be spending more in food, water etc..
Just save get an older class 40, or IMOCA boat and you'll have the best time ever.
But the long and short is. You need money to get anywhere at sea.
