Hi, Norwegian Red Cross Rescue Corps volunteer here!
1. Learn first aid! It doesn't matter how big your first aid kit is, if you don't know how to use it. Sign up for a first aid course and learn how to propper use your equpment.
2. Use it! Don't be afraid to open your gear just to try it out. Open a pack of gauze and try to bandage your foot, your legs or your arm. Practise makes master :)
3. Don't bring to mutch, and advanced gear. If you get in a situation where you need to use your gear, and you don't know how to use it, you will make youselve look like an ass, and your patient will get nervous.
Bring just the basic gear. A pack of gauze, a pack of band aids, a rescue blanket, scissors, wound cleaning wipes and some medical tape. Thats it! I bet you a dollar you wont need more that that. Just remember to call 112/911 if you need medical help!
Sorry for my bad english.
