no need for all this presumptuous, manufactured and baseless snobbery,
its a little bit of personal preference and also each is kind of specialized towards different purposes.
i.e, some internal frame pack are specific designed for climbers. high-speed low-drag. also good for hiking where you *know* you'll be pushing through heavy, thick brush.
external frame packs have definite distinct advantages for some hikers, purposes.
for one thing this style, when worn, keeps the main body of the pack away from you back side, and gives you alot of ventilation between your body and the pack. also has more suspension strap systems that really smooth out the load bearing and allow for a custom fit.
and yes the frame itself allows for easy attachment of things to the outside of pack like a rolled up jacket, sleeping bag, tent bag or what ever
also, i dont give a shit what it "looks" like.
