>>1083511Sounds like exactly what happened to me. They are cool birds. I saw a green heron for the first time while pond fishing last month. I didn't have a clue what it was when I first saw it. It came and landed in a tree right over my shoulder. I kept on fly fishing and he didn't seem to mind me so he just chilled on the branch for a while. When I got home I figured out that it was indeed a green heron. I thought it was pretty interesting that they are one of few species of birds that will actually fish for their food. They take insects or twigs or what ever they think makes good bait and entice fish to the surface for an easy meal. Would be awesome to see in person
