I used to be fat but followed a keto diet to lose the weight and now try to maintain a high fat diet.
Making Salami is simple, I just use salt and paprika. In the UK you can buy fatty pork for between £2-3 at the supermarket, get the freshest you can get. When well dried I've had no problems with it lasting 2 weeks in the heat. It's also super energy dense and makes your pack pretty light. Goes great with almost any other food and can be heated if you like. After 2 weeks you still won't be sick of the flavour.
Salami is about 80% of my food on hiking trips.
