OP, i use a big knife because it's significantly lighter than a hatchet/small knife combo and I want wood splitting abilities if i get into a bind. which i have before and got to successfully use a larger, thicker and heavier knife to get a fire going to save my ass.
basically, my life experience tells me that a large knife is useful and I'll continue to use it.
if your life experience decides that yr mora/whatever is sufficient, fine with me, dude. more power to ya.
just don't give me shit for my preferences.
