I was a Girl Scout in an upper-class neighborhood near San Francisco, and I still volunteer with my troop.
There's a separate adventure troop that is co-ed with all the local troops, they do things like rafting and spelunking, but there isn't any real camping going on anymore. I'll have to wait until I can be a troop leader I guess.
There isn't any knot-tying, fire building, shelter building or survival skills anymore. I mean, right now we're working on a WORK EXPERIENCE badge, next we're doing an ECONOMY badge. It wasn't like we could tag along with any of the boy scouts, no, the only time we met our local boy scout troop was when they were helping us distribute cases of cookies, pretty pathetic if you ask me.
Plus the moms of the girls, they're all rich bitches who want to go on expensive trips ton cruises and to England, and expect the lesser earning families to somehow afford a 4,000 dollar trip!!! God I hate Girl Scouts.
Anyone else have experience with Girl Scout Troops?
