ThermaRest Trail Reg. Got it used on geartrade for $24.96 after shipping. Looks in great shape, and it's holding air just fine for now. I'm going to test it out tonight and check it for slow leaks, but at that price even with a leak it's worth it. I've got my repair kit handy.
My first self-inflating pad. I just used my REI dividends and a coupon code to knock down the price of a Women's TrailPro for my gf. She is not too enthusiastic about sleeping on closed-cell foam.
I got this one mostly for friends and family to use (who aren't big fans of roughing it), or to take traveling, car camping, on winter trips, and on luxury trips with low miles. It'll also come in handy if I end up living out of my tent for any length of time again.
I will be especially happy to lend it to my Mom, who, bless her adventurous soul, was cool enough to come visit me in Yosemite last year and to do some backpacking and hiking, and to sleep under the stars one night on a cheap Wal-Mart pad I'd bought. After one night, though, we moved to a room at a lodge. "I'm not forty years old anymore, honey," she told me. I think the pad will help her out. (The rest of my family's too lame to try to relate to my /out/sider lifestyle.)
Also, now I'll feel better about cutting up my old, flattened, worn-out closed-cell pad for ultralighting.
geartrade, man. not a bad place to find used gear online. anyone else know of good used/closeout/outlet sites online? (I also check theclymb and the deals section of most major retailers).
