i'm pretty satisfied with the mustad KVD elite triple grip - those have more of a J bend than a traditional round bend treble. good sharpness, etc. getting a short shank treble is definitely a good idea on a crankbait since a lot of stock crankbaits come with bad hooks that are also inappropriately sized. Strike king does this and may in fact do it on purpose to promote sales of KVD triple grips but it is what it is: I don't want the belly hook of my lure to go up on the bill of the lure so the hooks must be changed a lot of the time.
Size as appropriate to achieve desired buoyancy and action and weight and not hooking the bill, etc etc.
