I use my hammock for canoe trips (not a backpacker, what's the fun in a never ending portage?) but tents are superior in several ways; you can have sex in them, get changed easily, move around, unpack in the rain without getting your stuff wet, and so on. However, hammocks never have to worry about being flooded, or finding a flat site, or rocks/roots in the ground, ect.. They're both good. Personally, there are only two reasons I'd use a tent in the future; 1. There's no trees where I'm camping, or 2. I'm camping with a special female friend.
Otherwise? Using my hammock.
