I got fucking lucky with this shot. Started circling me, camera was set up for long-exposure night shots. Hit the right buttons in the right order and cracked off a shot, this is what came out.

Owl came within a few feet of me on more than one swoop.

During the summer, I'll take off after work and ride till its dark, then turn around and head home.

This is also when I see the most deer, elk, 'yotes, foxes, bears, owls, skunks, and porcupines. Also drunk teenagers.

Know the wildlife in the area, know how to defend yourself against them. I carry both a pistol and bear spray, but that's up to you.

Got lucky with this shot. Was set up for long-exposure shots, somehow hit the right buttons fast enough to pop the flash and get a decent shot of this guy.

He came within arms length of me once or twice that evening... and not a sound. Owls are badass.

(Friend lives in the mountains a few miles off the highway... they had a mountain lion stalking them for a while. Climbed on top of their house, and his wife (pregnant at the time) saw it a few times at the edge of the woods around their house. Their carry pistols and the rifles in their house are more for wildlife defense than people defense.

Deer are fucking dumb, come real close to hitting a few of them on my motorcycle in the backwoods.

Saw a lone buffalo on a long dualsport ride last memorial day... that was weird.

Then there's a smattering of yotes, foxes, porcupines, skunks, llamas, walking hamburger, owls...

this sucker flew just a few feet away from me that night.
