Me and the inlaws caught pic related last weekend. Followed the suggestion several people posted in another thread regarding mac&cheese cheese for catfish bait.
We used chicken gizzards coverd in the cheese, and a couple of cheese sauce variations, the one that got the most attention from the fish and ended up catching this guy was the kind of cheese that comes pre-mixed in a sauce packet with an extra powder packet thrown in. I tried powder-only but it washed off almost immediately. You could probably use the cheese spread that comes in a can instead of the pre-mixed mac&cheese stuff.
While we only caught the one catfish this time out, there were other nibbles and this was a good catch for this time of year here considering most lake bottoms are still cold and the catfish usually aren't very active until July or so.
Excited to see what macaroni and cheese sauce can do once it really gets to be catfish season.
