>>302205The city I live in doesn't have free soil or wood. Is there another place to call where I could potentially get this free stuff? I live near the mountains (about 5 miles south) and I worked for the US Forest Service briefly and I know they sell cords of wood from trees that wash down the rivers or stuff they cut down but they don't offer anything for free. I have no idea who else to call for this.
And as far as the ads, I'm tempted to buy the red mulch 5 bags (2 cu. ft. each) for $10 so its about $1 per cubic foot of red mulch and I'm going to put most of it in a veggie box, use the rest for my raspberry patch, and put some in the front of the house for a flower bed.
My reasoning for buying the color red is because it seems that the red light reflects back at the tomatoes and increases tomato yields/helps them mature faster according to some studies. I'm hoping with the red mulch, it helps the tomatoes I'm going to be growing and possibly even the red raspberry varieties that I plan to grow? I also don't know if Home Depot has done this before or will plan to sell the bags of mulch even cheaper (so should I hold out on buying the mulch this weekend incase they sell it cheaper down the road). I'm thinking of taking the Home Depot ads to Lowes and having them do their price match guarantee and throw in the additional 10% discount as well to make it even cheaper for me....
