I got myself an ex Telstra Nissan Patrol (but Hilux or Land Cruiser is pretty good avoid the ford rangers) the ones they take out bush. They have additional suspension modification + rear canopy modification + winch + other acessories, and are a steal if you find one under 80,000kms.
Then you just have it modified the way you like.
I bought one for about 14k, with double suspension, bullbars, additional high beam lighting and fog lights, multi-purpose rear canopy, 2 spare tires, double fuel tanks, double battery and a decent winch.
I put a decent sized kitchen on it, with a fridge and a fold out bench,
I can also modify it to bring put a motobike on the back or make it to a fold out tent or even have the back as a little sleeping quarters (though i don't do it)
Only problem is that it can only take a maximum of 3 people, 2 pretty ok,.
it isn't comfortable to drive on roads, I am thinking to improve the seats for it since they're stock.
Otherwise a dream for the /out/doorsman, you can put a kayak or surfboard on top no probs, and you can tow a large boat.
