I've taken a ryoba pull saw (Japanese double bladed general carpentry saw) to the woods to stealth poach hardwoods for turning on my lathe.
They break down into two parts pretty easily So they can fit in a pack. Not as convenient as a folding saw ofc, but the two handed pulling motion combined with the ultra thin kerf gives it amazing cutting power. You can cut nice bowl blanks with one of these. They go through hardwood like butter, but they take some getting used to. You have to ease off the pressure and get into a rhythm when cutting. If you hack away at the wood like some [spoiler:lit]western troglodyte[/spoiler:lit] you'll bind up the blade and bend it or break off teeth.
