>>185535>For every tree cut down the company/government will plant 2-4im glad you hit on this. to pile on, the replacement trees do not typically have the same or even similar genetics when they are replanted. climax species, like trees, dictate the habitat of the areas they grow in. you cant replant cloned apex species like this and expect the ecology to have the same resiliency or support the same flora and fauna.
humans tend to think in terms of species distinction, but these lines of separation are just a human invention. you need to maintain the same levels of genetic diversity you had when you took the trees out in the first place. categorizing by species alone isnt actually useful here, the genetics of the entire ecosystem is the actually pertinent part
