As long as you have Hardcast bullets and good shot placement it's fine.
I'm listening to a channel called "scary bear attacks." There's one with a guy packing a g20 10mm and he used hollowpoints and the bear wasn't stopped. The worst part is when the bear was on top of him and he pressed the gun against the bear and CLICK! he pushed the slide out of battery.
If you choose to pack a semi auto in bear county, you have to hold it away from the bear if it's on top of you before you shoot it.
I have no idea how to train for that. So I still pack a revolver. Not a fun. I carry pic related everywhere else
