While high fence operations in the US and Europe are usually quite small and are built with the expressed goal of keeping the animals confined, this is not necessarily the case with operations in parts of Africa. For example, fenced game parks in South Africa can be massive and the fences were built with the intent to keep poachers out of those areas, rather than keeping the animals in.
In summary, I don’t like high fence exotic game ranches/canned shoots. They strike me as bogus hunting situations that are highly unethical and can give anti-hunters rhetoric to use against the hunting community as a whole. However, it is undeniable that they do have value as a conservation tool, and not all high-fence operations are the same. I just don’t think that they should become mainstream, and I don’t think people should try to pass it off as a legitimate hunting experience.
